Description
Ingredients
Vardenafil (20mg)
Drug Class
PDE5 Inhibitor (Phosphodiesterase Type 5 Inhibitor)
Dosage Form
Tablet (film-coated)
Uses
Levitra is used to treat:
- Erectile Dysfunction (ED) in adult men
How To Use
Take the tablet orally with a glass of water, with or without food, roughly 25–60 minutes before sexual activity. High-fat meals may delay how fast it works, so a lighter meal beforehand is preferable. Sexual stimulation is still required for the medicine to work.
Dosage
The usual starting dose is 10mg, taken as needed, not more than once in 24 hours. Your doctor may adjust this to 5mg or 20mg based on response and tolerability. Do not take more than one dose per day.
Missed Dose
Levitra is taken as needed rather than on a fixed schedule, so a “missed dose” typically doesn’t apply. Take it only when needed, following your doctor’s guidance, and never double up within the same day.
When Not to Use
Do not use this medication if:
- You are allergic to Vardenafil or any of its ingredients
- You are taking nitrates (e.g., for chest pain) or nitric oxide donors this combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure
- You have severe heart or liver disease, or have had a recent heart attack or stroke
- You are a woman, Levitra is not indicated for use in women
Side Effects
Common side effects include:
- Headache
- Flushing
- Nasal congestion / stuffy nose
- Indigestion
- Dizziness
Seek medical help if you experience a painful or prolonged erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism), sudden vision or hearing loss, or chest pain.
Precautions & Warnings
- Consult your doctor if you have heart disease, low or high blood pressure, or a history of stroke before use
- Avoid alcohol in excess, as it can increase dizziness and lower blood pressure further
- Not recommended for use in patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment without medical supervision
- Do not operate heavy machinery if you experience dizziness after taking this medicine
Drug Interactions
Ask your doctor about all medicines you’re taking, especially nitrates, alpha-blockers, and other blood pressure medications, as combining these with Levitra can cause a significant drop in blood pressure.
Food Interactions
- Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may increase Vardenafil levels in the blood, raising the risk of side effects
- High-fat meals may delay absorption and reduce how quickly the medicine works
- Avoid excessive alcohol, as it can increase the risk of dizziness, headache, or low blood pressure
In Case of Overdose
Seek medical help immediately if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms may include severe dizziness, fainting, irregular heartbeat, or a prolonged, painful erection.
Storage/Disposal
Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not use past the expiration date.
